Welcome to 2019! The Philadelphia Eagles start the new year the way they started 2018, as a playoff team with Nick Foles leading them into the post-season. This year, they’re a Wildcard team and the 6th seed. So there won’t be any home playoff games this year. Let’s just hope that their final game of the 2018 season, is in Atlanta!

If you think back over Nick Foles’ career, it’s been an amazing journey. Chosen in the 3rd round of the 2012 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, he started the final 6 games of his rookie season with Andy Reid as his Head coach and Doug Pederson as his Quarterbacks coach.

Andy Reid was fired at the end of that season and Chip Kelly was hired to replace him. In 2013, Nick had one of the best games a Quarterback has ever had (and one of the best seasons a QB has ever had). In a week 9 game against the Oakland Raiders, he threw for a league record tying 7 touchdown passes with 0 interceptions and came out of the game early in the 4th quarter. In doing so, he not only tied the all-time league record of 7 touchdown passes in a single game, but he became the only quarterback in NFL history to do so, while having a perfect 158.3 passer rating.

After the 2013 season, which saw Nick Foles throw 27 touchdowns with only 2 interceptions, his career went on to be one of a journeyman quarterback. After an injury shortened 2014 season, he was traded to the St. Louis Rams. His 2015 stint with Jeff Fisher, in St. Louis, didn’t end well and he was released before the 2016 season. From there, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, signed him as his backup back-up quarterback.

When the 2016 season came to an end, the Chiefs released him and a few days later, he signed on to be the Philadelphia Eagles back-up Quarterback and was reunited with now head coach Doug Pederson.

As is well known by now, Carson Wentz would suffer season ending injuries to his knee (a torn ACL and LCL), and Nick Foles would step in and lead the Eagles to their first ever Super Bowl championship and earn himself the Super Bowl MVP award in the process.

Nick’s story is continuing in the 2018 season, and time will tell what the next chapter will bring.
