After the Cowboys win vs. the Saints, what are the Eagles playoff chances?

After the Dallas Cowboys shocked the NFL world by defeating the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football, where does that leave the Philadelphia Eagles playoff hopes? The Eagles are still in the playoff race, though just barely.

The Eagles will need to win all of their three remaining NFC East games to keep hope alive. That would make their record 8-6. That leaves two non-divisional games to worry about. The Rams and the Texans. For the sake of day dreaming, let’s just say that the Eagles split those two and go 1-1, making their final record, 9-7.

The Cowboys final three opponents are the Colts, Buccaneers and Giants. If the Cowboys win all three of those games, their record would be 10-6 (with the presumed loss to the Eagles in week 14). 10-6 would win the division. So, for the Eagles to win the division (in this scenario), they would need the Cowboys to lose at least 1 of those final 3 games. Either that, or the Eagles would need to win all 5 of their remaining games, which would result in a 10-6 tie with the Eagles winning the tie-breaker.

Depending on how the other games play out, that could actually result in the Cowboys getting the 5th seed and having to play the Eagles in Philadelphia, in the Wildcard round.

Of course, A LOT has to go right for the Eagles for this scenario to actually come true, and very little has actually gone right for the Eagles in the 2018 season.
